Prairie Days in Independence, KS and Mom's Birthday

We had a nice day celebrating my 38th birthday.  We met up with Bebe and Pops for lunch in Tulsa.

William has been practicing archery with Dan in the garage.  He's getting really good at the Bull's Eye!

Last year we visited the Laura Ingles homestead in Kansas.  Each June they put on a festival for families and you can tour the homestead, churn butter, work the water pump, sit through a school classroom lesson and made a rope.  Our kids loved it so much that we went back this year.  The girls really loved wearing "costumes" like pioneers and wearing their bonnets.

Sponge curls and sister moments

Adeline asks me to curl her hair and every time I try, the curl doesn't stay long.  So I told Adeline about sponge curlers.  I explained that you wear them to sleep and when you wake up, you have lots of curls in your hair.  She thought it was so funny and a joke.  She couldn't believe she needed to sleep in curlers.  It took some convincing, but after awhile, she was on board to try it.

And if sissy is doing it........guess who wants in on the action?  Anna baby also wanted a few sponge curls for the night!

Our first experience yielded positive results and we've worn curlers to bed every once in awhile ever since.
