WBB plays soccer
William started an 8 week soccer camp this week. I found a small soccer clinic for 2 and 3 year old kids that meets on Wednesdays when William is not in preschool. The kids gather at a park very close to our house and they play soccer with "Coach B" for one hour. I was able to round up a few of William's friends to take the soccer lessons too. So, the kids play soccer while the moms watch from the sidelines. Cate, Jack and Ava are all a part of the fun! To my surprise, William and all the other kids really listen to the coach and actually do "drills" with the ball!

Movin' on up to a full size!
For several months, William has enjoyed taking his nap on the floor or on the full bed that we keep in his room. I think the full bed was just interesting to him and the floor was appealing because that is how they nap at school. I never really cared where he wanted to fall asleep (assuming the choice was safe) because I just wanted him to take a nap or go to bed for the night! If he wanted to sleep on the full bed for a nap, I would just lay pillows all around him once he was asleep and that way I felt like he wasn't going to fall off. If he wanted to sleep on the full bed (or floor) at night, I would let him but then I would put him in the crib after he was out and this way I knew he'd be safe for the duration of the night.
The last couple of weeks, he's been insisting on going to bed at night in the full bed and "not in my cribby mom mom. William takes a night night on the big bed."
So, I gave it a go.
He's been sleeping in his full bed since Friday, the 18th. I found some airplane bedding accessories to make the bed extra special and William LOVES it! He is so proud! I still worry about him falling off the bed, but for the time being we have one rail up along the side of the bed and then we just put big pillows around him. Welcome to the big boy leagues William! You're movin' on up!

First Day of Preschool
Today was William's first day back at preschool. He is attending First Baptist Church of Alexandria Preschool which is the same school he went to last year. Now that he's a big 2 year old, he goes 3 days a week from 10-2 instead of just 2 days a week. He's been fired up about school since we went to the open house last Friday. So, I had a feeling the whole event would be pretty painless!
As we drove in the car, William said, "Mama, you pack a fruit bar and some carrot chips for William?" I assured him that he'd like his lunch and I even put in a surprise (fruit loops) to celebrate the first day of school. We got to school right on time and headed straight to his classroom. His teacher greeted him with a smile and William said, "hi!" and marched right on in. He made a B-line for the race cars and never looked back!
The first day of school is one of my favorite "life events" and it is even more exciting for me to watch William embark on this great adventure. I know he's happy and thriving, but the mama in me wishes that he'd stay home with me forever.
