These two are thick as thieves.
There is nothing more honest and pure than Adeline's love for her Dada. She is completely captivated by him.
Her joy for Dada is contagious.
Every morning when she wakes up, she calls for her Dada. When he goes to pick her up, she greets him with a smile brighter than the sun, she buries her face in his shoulder, rests her cheek on his chest and gives him small little pats.
When Dada has to leave for work, Adeline knows. She sees him dressed up and he grabs his briefcase. Dada always says, "I need a hug" and a pint sized pj wearing baby girl runs as fast as she can into his arms. She squeals with delight. She holds on tight, pulls her legs up under her belly and clutches her Dada in a fierce grip. She won't let go. She holds on for dear life. She cries. Her eyes fill with tears and I have to pry her hands off Dada so he can get out the door.
It is hard to watch. It is hard to calm her down after he walks out the door. The love for her Dada is overwhelming sometimes.
And when evening comes, Adeline knows he will be back. We have a routine where the kids take a bath, put on their pjs and I serve them an early dinner before Dada gets home. Adeline knows these triggers signal her beloved Dada is coming home. She repeats "Dada Dada Dada Dada" like a broken record. She stands at the front door laughing and smiling in sheer delight that he's about to walk inside. The anticipation is contagious. She bounces up and down and she waits.
And when our Dada walks through the door, there is a little pint sized pj wearing baby girl who runs as fast as she can into his arms. She squeals with pure happiness. She holds on tight, pulls her legs up under her belly and clutches her Dad in a fierce grip. She won't let go.
They share a bond so special that even this mommy can't compete.
